The estate:
This castle was a place where Lamartine, a 19th century romantic poet and influential politician, used to have magic walks. From the towers, he contemplated the view he loved most in the world. Overlooking the Val Lamartinien, the terrace offers an exceptional view on the Solutré Rock, prestigious place in Pouilly Fuissé.
With its 13 towers overlooking the Mâconnais, Berzé is a well conserved fortress dating back from the 13th century. It was reputed for being invincible under Louis XI. Actually we can find ingenious defence systems within the three surrounding walls.
Tasting:
With subtle flower aromas, its is a delicate and crunchy wine, so typical for the South of Burgundy.
|
Suggestions:
The Comtesse de Thy de Milly suggests to serve her wine chilled (9-10°), on its own, as an aperitif or during a garden party. It will also perfectly match starters, fishes and goat cheese.
|
Ageing:
Drink it within 3 years to benefit from its freshness.
