In 1880, Joanny Dupond decided to plant a Renjardière vineyard to the north of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.

It was about a good opportunity of widening the range of family estates.

In details

Grape varietes • Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault

Appellations • red Côtes du Rhône, organic Côtes du Rhône Villages

Distinguishing features • The very distinctive label of Côtes du Rhône La Renjardière with its red band. The label was create in 1960 and has never changed since.

The estate was originally covered by an oak forest (Former national forest of Diane de Poitiers, in the XVIth century) and of scrubland.

The soil is made of sand, clay and limestone with round pebbles on the surface, a terroir similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

The respect and environmental protection have always been in the heart of the concerns of the Dupond family. By the end of XIXth century, they were neighbors of the famous entomologist Jean-Henri Fabre, who was studying life of insects in the region.

Since 2015 vintage, wines of Renjardière are produced according to the methods of Organic farming. At that time, Côtes du Rhône Villages only is certified.
